Visit by Chuo University, Japan – Sep 2012

On 6th September 2012, we extended our warmest welcome to a group of Japanese students from Chuo University, who were here for a short exchange programme. ^^ Our FBI-SIG students shared our learning experiences in the Thomson Reuters Financial Risk Management Center, where we showcased the various facilities and software that we used for our lab sessions. Apart from that, they were also very interested when we talked about the various races, cultures and cuisines in Singapore. Of course, we also recommended a number of tourist attractions for them to visit during their stay!

The Chuo University students also had their presentations after ours, and they shared their own endeavors in school and other interesting topics and inventions. During the tea break, we had a lot of interaction with the Chuo University students and staff. As each of us described to them the various local destinations such as Sentosa, Vivocity and Bugis, they were incredibly enthusiastic! They were so eager to visit these places such that they even started planning their activities for the weekend!

There were so many topics for us to talk about, ranging from different places of interest in Singapore and our favorite pass times. We have learnt more about the Japanese culture and shared with them our very own Singapore culture.

It has been fulfilling and enjoyable experience, even though we were unsure about ourselves, we overcame the language barrier and were able to communicate and have a fun and unforgettable experience. We look forward to future opportunities to host and interact with other students from other countries.
