FBI Networking Day 2012 has been an extremely memorable experience for me. This event not only gave FBI students the opportunity to put up a performance, but it also allowed us to showcase each and every one’s talents and inner strengths. Personally, I believe that behind every performance, there will be lots of hard work, tears and brainstorming involved. However, for it to be a successful one, teamwork has to be present.
During our APEL classes, my class used the remaining time to brainstorm on ideas for our FBI Networking Day performance. After a few sessions of brainstorming, we decided on our performance theme – Street Fighter. To add a little refreshing twist to it, our favourite Aunty Lucy was added into our skit to bring out the “Singaporean” element.
Everyone was allocated with a specific role and responsibility so that each of us will be able to participate and contribute actively. Due to the fact that our performance required a lot of materials, we often have to take turns to source for our required materials. The most essential material used in our performance is cardboard and thus, many of us had to help out in collecting used cardboards from the neighbourhood. In order to make sure that everyone were familiar with their roles on stage, we stayed back late after our lessons, a few nights before the FBI Networking Day, to conduct rehearsals and provide support and encouragement for each other.
Through this event and the process of preparing for it, my teamwork skills in working with my classmates have been enhanced and I am able to communicate with them more effectively. I have also learnt to apply my time management skills in order to juggle between both school work and the preparation for our performance. Last, but definitely not least, we had lots of fun! During the preparation process, conflicts are unavoidable, but all of us have learnt to put aside our differences and work together as a class to achieve a similar goal - to make sure that our last FBI Networking Day will be a memorable one.
Time passes, but the memories created will be ours to keep for long. I hope that FBI will retain its tradition of organizing its annual FBI Networking Day throughout the future years and all the best to the future classes!
